I’m sure you’re wondering where I’ve gone and why there haven’t been any posts in a while. Well beginning in mid April, Brandon and I began the process of building a new house. There was a lot of researching and prep work and after a lot of number crunching and deliberating, we decided to go for it so this Wednesday we are sitting down with the builder and signing the contract. I’m not sure when they will actually break ground but Brandon has made his intentions for that day well known. He plans to take the day off work, post up in the cul-de-sac with a cooler of beer and witness the big day while simultaneously introducing our neighbors to his non-yuppy-subdivision type demeanor. Should be fun.

You don’t have to say anything because I am disappointed in myself enough as it is that even after multiple visits to the model homes, I haven’t taken a single stinking picture to post here. I promise at some point I will make it out there again and get some pictures of a house similar to what we’re planning to build. Of course I will post pictures of the whole building process as well, rest assured.

On related news, the entire decision to make this move was based on the fact that while we absolutely love where we live right now and how much we have changed our house since it’s purchase 4 years ago, we simply do not have room for our family to grow. Not to mention the fact that we live surrounded by folks our parents ages, and there is nothing wrong with that except that Aubrey has no one to play with. We have a playground at the end of our street that is always deserted because there are no other children around. So long story short, I’m hoping I’ll be pouring over baby name books in the next few months.

We want Aubrey and any future sibling(s) to be able to grow up in one house for the majority of their life while at the same time having peers right next door and down the street that they can play with and grow up with. A sense of community is something Brandon and I both lacked growing up so we’re excited to give that to our children. We already have a very strong family unit with Aubrey’s grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins very close by, this will just be icing on the cake.

As far as other news, Brandon, Aubrey and I spent Mother’s Day helping my mom around her yard getting things tidied up and making improvements/repairs to her back deck. Her house has already changed so much from when she bought it last winter. There was no grass and while the house was immaculate, the yard needed a lot of work. It looks so good now. A few more weekends helping her landscape and rearrange existing flowers and plants will have the place Better Homes and Gardens ready.

After we were done there we headed to Bran’s Mom’s house for a cookout and Yahtzee.

That’s about all I have for now. I’ll have to see if I have any pictures of Aubrey I haven’t put up yet.
