A short rant

On my way to work this morning I saw tons of flashing lights as cops had people pulled over on the side of the road every 30 feet. Okay, slight exaggeration, but only slight!

I thought nothing of them as I was slowly puttering my way down the highway in morning rush hour doing no more than 20mph at any given moment. Given my slow speed and the fact that I had not been changing lanes, tail gating or doing anything else that might warrant a police officer coming up behind me and turning on his lights, I was in denial that he was actually after me until he uses his speaker to yell, “Pull over to the right!”

Still incredibly confused I pulled over to the shoulder. My mind was racing over what he could possibly be pulling me over for. He strides up to my passenger side and whacks the passenger window which I roll down. He then yells at me to roll it back up part way and places a device over the edge as he tells me he pulled me over because the tint on my windows is too dark. Yes, the highway patrol pulled me over in bumper to bumper morning rush hour, further holding up traffic, to lecture me for 30 minutes on how my windows are too dark while he stands there in the rain getting soaked and then writes me a notice to appear in court!

FOUR YEARS I have been driving around with that tint on my windows. FOUR YEARS! Not to mention that I have been pulled over during that time and nothing was ever said before.

Adding insult to injury he proceeded to follow me for the next 3 miles as other vehicles with DARKER TINT THAN MINE pass us and go along their merry way. Needless to say there were a few expletives thrown around the inside of my car this morning.

Glad to know my tax dollars are going to support officers on the lookout for real road hazards like aggressive drivers and drunks.

AHHHHHH! Wow, Sarah. That’s freakin RIDICULOUS! Sorry you had to deal with those A-holes. Sounds like they were trying to reach a quota instead of trying to effectively do their jobs!
